Why I chose to participate in this project?

  • Participate with a group of change agents
  • Expand my knowledge base
  • Become more familiar with the “how to” of compiling a new method of technical learning
  • “Grow ideas”
  • “Establish an enhanced method of adult learning
  • Write the rules
  • Explore the minds of the users and receive feedback
  • Complete a KA

What I thought I would get from my participation:

  • A new model or product for college writing that would be extremely interactive and useful for adult learners
  • Increased awareness of ideas of others

What I actually got from it:

  • Learned about Skype
  • Additional leadership experience – decision making
  • Met and learned more about Roshann Williams. (I will be participating in class she will be facilitating at National).
  • There are no limitations of creativity. Ideas are birthed to enhance existing systems.
  • Collaborative learning, which ultimately increased my critical thinking skill
  • Greater sense of teamwork that moved toward the advancement of educational technology
  • Learning as a group promotes longevity in information retention versus individual learning and short term memory
  • Our group diversity contributed to our learning process by improving problem solving skills and converting critical thinking skills into higher levels of intellectual execution.

How my participation interacted with my thinking/ performance in the areas of critical thinking and academic writing.

As I engaged in this research project, over the course of the months, my critical thinking was affected by reflections of my thought patterns and problem solving; feedback received from Professor Harris and group members; my role as a participant in a group within a group; the desire to provide usable data to the aid the end project; and self-perceptions as an adult learner and how my skill not only as a scholarly writer can be employed, but also how those skills can be developed, and new skills introduced by the end project.
